Street Art Cities

 Between October and November 2022, Barcelona based artistic center B-Murals curated and produced Osona Artimur Festival, a never been done initiative of the Department of Tourism of Osona (an idyllic region up north BCN full of rivers, mountains and beautiful landscapes), in collaboration with the Catalan company Transit Projectes.

19 well renowned artists from the international muralism scene, the Spanish contemporary art world and some local guns selected through open calls and participatory processes, intervened the streets and the public space of 5 different villages - Prats de Lluçanès, Manlleu, Sant Julià de Vilatorta, Sant Bartomeu del Grau and Alpens -, supported by an extensive production team which included assistants, runners, photographers and filmers.

Manlleu chose to focus its mural interventions on the theme of the river Ter, both understood as a biological landscape and a historical and community space: for its role in Manlleu’s economic development, and for being a space for meetings, walks and emotional ties. The river, chosen as a theme for interpretation, is deeply connected to the individual and collective experiences of the people of Manlleu.

"My wall is designed with an illustrative style that helps represent the great biodiversity of the river and its main elements in a similar way to a catalogue or an illustrated biology manual. Throughout my personal research and direct contact with the river bank, I’ve decided to presents his inventory of the surrounding biodiversity through his own classification; on the left side of the wall, we find terrestrial species, while on the right side are the main water species. The characteristics of the wall itself are used to support this distribution and give strength to the design, while the main colours refer to the direct environment: the green of the grass, the blue of the sky, the yellow of the sun. Manlleu eligió enfocar sus intervenciones murales en la temática del río Ter, entendido como paisaje biológico, pero también como un espacio histórico y comunitario: por su papel en el desarrollo económico de Manlleu, por ser un lugar de encuentros, caminatas, y vínculos afectivos. El rio, elegido como temática de interpretación, siempre ha tenido enlaces estrechos con las experiencias a la vez individuales y colectivas de los manlleuenses.
El muro de Luogo Comune está apoyado en la ilustración para representar la gran biodiversidad del río y sus principales elementos a la manera de un catálogo o manual de biología ilustrado.
Trás una investigacion personal y el contacto directo con la orilla del rio, Luogo nos presenta su propia guia de la biodiversidad circundante a través de una clasificación propia; en el lado izquierdo del muro, encontramos especies terrestres, mientras en el lado derecho están las principales especies de agua. Las propias características del muro están aprovechadas para apoyar esta distribución y dar fuerza al diseño, mientras los colores principales remiten al entorno directo: verde del cesped, azul del cielo, amarillo del sol.
Con este mural, Luogo Comune quiere sensibilizar el espectador a la temática del cambio climático e invitarle a cuidar y preservar la biodiversidad local. Así mismo, incluyó las coordinadas exactas de la ciudad de Manlleu y una infográfica recordando las problemáticas globales del cambio climático.
