Nature Morte

Self-taught artist, from Nancy Matt_thieu is attracted by drawing and graffiti since his early age. As a teenager, he is already exploring the wastelands and industrial wastelands where his first works are born. It is in Paris that he developed his work in the street, becoming familiar with the capital, with which he "chalks up" an intimate relationship as and when his artistic wanderings. His characters, often ostriches, funny, friendly, sometimes romantic, and very poetic, are drawn in chalk "I draw so I chalk" is his pretty motto. The ostrich is the favorite character of the young artist. "Ostriches can easily be staged like humans, and thus take on everyday zany positions. I also like to make them play with the street, so that they adapt to the place where they settle," says the artist. Other birds land in the streets at the whim of Matt-tieu’s moods. Chalk-based elements, ephemera, which bring humor and lightness above all. "I try to bring a touch of cheerfulness to the passersby who pass me. Sometimes playing with current events and offering several readings to my drawing also pleases me. The important thing is to be touched at a street corner by the astonishing shapes of an animal that surprises us, generally large birds, like waders, marabouts, but also skeletons of animals, necessary alarms for an ecological awareness.

Tender, funny, sometimes carrying an ecological message, all these animals aim first to make us smile and dream.
