Dedicated to the Waimate 50 motorsport volunteers who, through enthusiasm and vision, brought motorsport to a quiet South Canterbury township, thus promoting the 'Waimate 50' name worldwide.

The scene depicts turn one of a saloon car race during the first era 1959-1966. Ernie Sprague's MKIII Zephyr leads Ron Silvester's 38 Chev Coupe, followed by Paul Fahey's Lotus Cortina, Ray Archibold's Jaguar and Rod Coppins' potent MKII Zephyr.
