Cowra Bridge Pylons

Large collaborative artwork featuring the wider community of Cowra along the several pairs of pylons of Cowra Bridge traversing over the Lachlan River. The artwork is predominantly painted with Indigenous art motifs, with a few pylons depicting several non-Aboriginal artworks, including a truck as a nod to Cowra being the intersection of five highways, native animals, and the landscape.

Themes around the murals were consulted with Koori and non-Aboriginal school children, with many of them from surrounding schools contributing ideas to the murals, as well as their handprints. The primary narrative is a depiction of how the Wiradjuri people lived prior to the settlement of Cowra. The pylons were funded by the Cowra Shire Council, the Australia Council for the Arts, and the Roads & Traffic Authority.
