A mortar, a curious look, and lots of little things to discover: this colorful mural, created by Annabel Adema, has everything to do with the street where it is located.
Annabel: “This artwork is all about trade! It refers to the old market that once took place here, as well as to the current farmers’ market and the shops that are and have been located in Vijzelstraat. References to these specific shops can be found in the background. Sausages, clothes, cigars, and a spicy toy…
As people, we roam through the city to buy and sell, but in Vijzelstraat, people and nature are also very important. Hence, the frame full of plants and the child who, amidst all the hustle and bustle, looks in wonder at her reflection in the large golden mortar.”
The mural is made during the Oude Markten Street Art Takeover, organized by Writer's Block Murals.
