On the wall of the Ignalina Cultural Center, you can see an expressive artwork created especially for Ignalina by twin artists Algirdas and Remigijus Gataveckas. The artists were inspired by the town's myth about the love between the crusader Ignas and the princess Lina, as well as the synthesis of the symbol of Ignalina, the water lily.
With this painting, the artists wanted to bring the beautiful city legend to life with lily-shaped balloons, remind people, inspire discussion, what it means to the locals, how we could continue to preserve and cherish this myth, and build our regional identity on it, as if on a foundation. At the same time, the colourful balloons symbolize a celebration.
The project "Ignalina is ARTi" was realized by Tadas Vincaitis-Plūgas.
