For the second edition of the UMA Mural Art Project

This is an initiative promoted since 2019 by the Vice-Rectorate for Culture of the University of Malaga, with the participation of the Vice-Rectorate for Smartcampus and curated by the Staf Magazine team.

The artist says about the work: “The set is made up of several images separated by modules and is inspired by some elements that the Andalusian culture left us as a legacy: Ceramics, pottery, architecture, are represented in a simplified way.

The horse was a very important animal in the Arab culture, it is galloping and its rider is a falcon, a peculiar image represented in the Caliphal ceramics (Inspired by the "ataifor del Caballo" of Madinat Ilbira).

The falcon has been represented in a multitude of materials and described and praised in songs and poems, the falcon and the activities related to it are a constant in the Andalusian written and visual culture.

Water is another fundamental element inherited from our Andalusian ancestors. On the other hand, the importance of the garden / patio is represented through elements such as lemons, hibiscus and the fountain.

The mural is a reminder / tribute to the Andalusian memory, sometimes forgotten.”
