Yume, un sogno per Palermo

Description

Yume un sogno per Palermo (Yume, A Dream for Palermo) is a commissioned work by il Made in Sicily to honour Totò Schillaci, the hero of the 1990 World Cup. The piece tells the story of a boy born in the outskirts of Palermo who, against all odds, reaches the world’s athletic heights. At the centre is the word “Yume”, crafted in highly reflective steel, which means “dream”. It represents the fact that anyone who sets their mind to it can reach their dreams, and it also pays homage to Japan — the country where Totò played for four years and remains tremendously beloved.

il Made in Sicily
“Made in Sicily is a cultural project that unites identity, art, diaspora, and a global community. It speaks of hands that create, of roots weaving between Sicily and the wider world, of peace, beauty, and pride. It is poetic realism—a narrative that is genuine, modern, and vibrant. A narrative that finds its anchor in artistic creations.”
