The mural beneath Hungerford Bridge was created in 2013 by the anonymous British street artist Stik as part of the Southbank Centre’s Urban: Celebrating Street Culture festival. The work conveys a powerful message about community, diversity and togetherness. The long line of varied figures reflects the melting pot of people in the city of London. Stik, now a celebrated street artist, once lived on the streets and in shelters for a time, and has never forgotten his background. He often turns down commercial commissions and is actively committed to supporting organisations for the homeless, hospitals and local communities. His street artworks are intended as gifts to the neighbourhood.
