Rainbow Wings (EN)

Café Stonewall stands for inclusion and diversity. It is the only gay café in Enschede and far beyond. The café has been run by volunteers from the LGBTQ+ community for 35 years. The artwork on the wall was created in collaboration with artist Nina Paintina. It provides a colorful entrance to a café where no one needs to be afraid to show their true colors. The artwork was created using stencil art. The angel wings invite all the colorful characters within the LGBTQ+ community—and everyone who supports this community—to come inside. The colors of the well-known rainbow flag are also reflected in the wings, which are surrounded by speakers and text. The artwork continues further inside, where it adorns the walls of the café.

Café Stonewall staat voor inclusie en diversiteit. Het is het enige gaycafé in Enschede en ver daarbuiten. Het café wordt al 35 jaar gerund door vrijwilligers uit de LHBTI+ gemeenschap. Het kunstwerk op de muur is ontstaan in samenwerking met kunstenares Nina Paintina. Het zorgt voor een kleurrijke entree tot een café waar niemand bang hoeft te zijn om zijn of haar ware kleuren te laten zien. Het kunstwerk is uitgevoerd doormiddel van stencil art. De engelenvleugels nodigen alle paradijsvogels binnen de LHBTI+ gemeenschap, en iedereen die deze community een warm hart toedraagt, uit om naar binnen te komen. Ook komen de kleuren van de welbekende regenboogvlag terug in de vleugels die worden omringd door luidsprekers en teksten. Het werk loopt verder door naar binnen, waar het de muren van het café verder siert.
