In 50 years, we have wiped out 80% of insects, 70% of wild animals, and 50% of marine animals. It’s a true hecatomb that should be making front-page news, yet not a single line is written about it. We should collectively be afraid so that we start putting solutions in place, because it is our duty to do everything we can to stop this massacre. It’s simply criminal—animals and humans will continue to die by the millions.

Have our leaders grasped the scale of the problem? Clearly not at all. They continue to see the Earth as a vast supermarket. In France, only 0.14% of our forests are wild, and less than 0.1% of our oceans are protected. The watchword is profitability, no matter the cost, and without batting an eye they keep plundering nature and driving global warming to unimaginable levels.

Our scientists have been warning us about climate change for decades. We are living through a preview of our climatic future, where the exceptional will become the norm in a world that continues to roll out the red carpet for companies responsible for climate change, while our media tell us the problem is Paul Watson and people throwing soup at glass. It’s time to act!
