Street Art Cities

In the autumn of 2020, artist Lonneke Schildert decided to offer her intern Roos Warnders from Cibap a special opportunity: to create an outdoor mural together. Their target was the bare, grey wall of the building that housed Kip2day at the time. This wall was covered in graffiti and there was often rubbish in the hedge. The place could use some love.

With the permission of the building owners, Lonneke and Roos got to work. They chose a bouquet of flowers as their theme, matching the view of the nearby park. Their work transformed the “dirty wall” into a colourful work of art, much to the delight of passers-by and park visitors. They were very enthusiastic that the “dirty wall” had been brightened up in this way, and since then, the immediate surroundings of the painting have been kept much tidier. In het najaar van 2020 besloot kunstenares Lonneke Schildert haar stagiaire Roos Warnders van het Cibap een bijzondere kans te bieden: samen een buitenmuurschildering maken. Hun doelwit was de kale, grijze muur van het pand waar toen Kip2day in gevestigd was. Deze muur was beklad met tags en er lag regelmatig vuilnis in de heg. De plek kon wel wat liefde gebruiken.

Met toestemming van de pandeigenaren gingen Lonneke en Roos aan de slag. Ze kozen voor een bos bloemen als thema, passend bij het uitzicht op het nabijgelegen park. Hun werk veranderde het 'vieze muurtje' in een kleurrijk kunstwerk, tot grote vreugde van voorbijgangers en parkbezoekers. Zij waren heel enthousiast dat het ‘vieze muurtje’ op deze manier werd opgevrolijkt en sindsdien wordt de directe omgeving van de schildering veel netter gehouden.
