View on the Leidsebuurt

This mural dates from 2009 is painted with environmetally friendly mineral paint from Keim. The project was a community effort with more than a 100 participants in the Leidsebuurt. It shows the neighbourhood as it was many years ago as well as three old photographs pixellated and painted onto the wall. The pixels (10x10cm) were drawn by hand and then painted in 9 shades of blue. This was done on a paint by numbers concept. The initiative came from a South African resident of the Leidsebuurt at that time (Selma Kok) and together with graphic artists and other artists made a design in which everyone could take part.
