Vera Savelkouls is an illustrator, animator and tattoo artist from Tilburg (NL). In the summer of 2019, she graduated Cum Laude from the Illustration/Animation course at AKV/St.Joost in Breda. Her fascination with graphic techniques began to grow at art school. During and after her studies, she continued to explore, collect and try out different types of illustration techniques, such as screen printing, tufting and embroidery. During her NEXT coaching program, she added tattooing to her repertoire, and since last year she has been working full-time as a tattoo artist at LeFlux and Loekattat. Vera also tries to slowly set up her own brand by designing and silk-screening these designs on shirts, sweaters and paper.  She sells her own designs on shirts, sweaters and paper at markets.

In her work she likes to create worlds or make people conscious about current topics that are going on in the world. In her free time, she likes to draw plants and animals or things that inspire her in her daily life. She is very eager to learn different techniques, and she is always looking for a different way to make her illustrations. ​​When she's not working, she can be found watching movies, petting her cat and taking care of her plants. 

Flora and fauna are big themes within her work. The idea behind the design of this floral is to celebrate the fact that Tilburg is actively working to make the city greener to improve the quality of life for its citizens.

Vera Savelkouls is een illustrator, animator en tattoo-artiest uit Tilburg (NL). In de zomer van 2019 studeerde ze cum laude af aan de opleiding Illustratie/Animatie aan AKV/St.Joost in Breda. Haar fascinatie voor grafische technieken begon te groeien op de kunstacademie. Tijdens en na haar studie bleef ze verschillende illustratietechnieken verkennen en uitproberen, zoals zeefdrukken, tufting en borduren. Tijdens haar NEXT-coachingprogramma voegde ze tatoeëren toe aan haar repertoire en sinds vorig jaar werkt ze fulltime als tatoeëerder bij LeFlux en Loekattat. Vera probeert ook langzaam haar eigen merk op te zetten door deze designs te ontwerpen en te zeefdrukken op shirts, truien en papier. Ze verkoopt haar eigen ontwerpen op shirts, truien en papier op markten.

In haar werk creëert ze graag eigen werelden of maakt ze mensen bewust van actuele onderwerpen die in de wereld spelen. In haar vrije tijd tekent ze graag planten en dieren of dingen die haar inspireren in haar dagelijks leven. Ze is erg leergierig en altijd op zoek naar nieuwe technieken en manieren om haar illustraties te maken. Als ze niet aan het werk is, kijkt ze graag films, aait ze haar kat en verzorgt ze haar planten.

Flora en fauna zijn belangrijke thema's in haar werk. Het idee achter het ontwerp van deze bloemenprint is om te vieren dat Tilburg actief bezig is om de stad groener te maken en zo de levenskwaliteit van haar inwoners te verbeteren.
