2022 marked the 50th birtday of "Belén Electrónico de Begonte" and is one of the essential elements at Christmas in Lugo. This year, moreover, it celebrates its fiftieth anniversary, which makes a visit to it even more special. This Birth, one of the most emblematic in Galicia, has been declared of Galician Tourist Interest.

Inaugurated in 1972, it has more than fifty articulated figures, many of which represent traditional trades. In addition, as every year, there is a new figure in the Nativity, although it is a surprise that only visitors will be able to find out.

So the council asked Diego As to paint a mural to celebrate this special moment.
"At first I thought of doing something more related to the nativity scene and movement, the recreation of some figure, but at the last minute the memory of my grandfather Ricardo came to my mind, who would bring my cousins and me to see him when we were kids": shares Diego.

El 2022 marcó el 50 cumpleaños de "Belén Electrónico de Begonte" y es uno de los elementos imprescindibles de la Navidad en Lugo. Este año, además, celebra su cincuentenario, lo que hace que su visita sea aún más especial. Este Nacimiento, uno de los más emblemáticos de Galicia, ha sido declarado de Interés Turístico de Galicia.
Inaugurado en 1972, cuenta con más de cincuenta figuras articuladas, muchas de las cuales representan oficios tradicionales. Además, como cada año, hay una nueva figura en el Belén, aunque es una sorpresa que solo los visitantes podrán descubrir.
Así que el ayuntamiento le pidió a Diego As que pintara un mural para celebrar este momento tan especial.

"Al principio pensaba hacer algo más relacionado con el belén y el movimiento, la recreación de alguna figura, pero a última hora se me vino a la cabeza el recuerdo de mi abuelo Ricardo, que nos traía a mis primos y a mí a verlo cuando éramos pequeños", di As sobre unha obra que recolle un avó e o seu neto camiño do belén, que aparece de fondo "dentro de un roto" no propio mural.
