Eventuality

This mural was created during MURAL CITY 2026 in Bremen, Germany, under the theme "Beauty of Science". Eleven artists painted eleven façades, each connected to a field of research based in the city.

Soda’s abstract image worlds emerge from floating geometric fragments that merge, collide or drift apart, at times robust and complete, at others like a frozen explosion. Through a precise handling of light and shadow he lends flat surfaces the illusion of a third dimension and keeps his deeply atmospheric forms in black, white and grey alone, focused on the essentials: rhythm, space, light and shadow. From pigments and particles he orchestrates compositions that come across as uncompromising and full of character, almost brutalist, object worlds that exist on their own and resonate as if they had landed here from his world. 

Within MURAL CITY – Beauty of Science, Soda's work turns to the research field of the materials sciences. Matter is joined together, shaped and deconstructed again. From the smallest parts a whole arises, from the raw the refined, and in the refined the raw already lies, into which it will one day return.

Diese Arbeit entstand im Rahmen von MURAL CITY 2026 in Bremen, unter dem Motto „Beauty of Science". Elf Artists gestalteten elf Fassaden, jede mit einer Verbindung zu einem Forschungsfeld aus der Stadt.

Sodas abstrakte Bildwelten entstehen aus schwebenden geometrischen Fragmenten, die sich verbinden, aufeinandertreffen oder voneinander lösen, mal robust und abgeschlossen, mal wie eine eingefrorene Explosion. Durch präzise Licht- und Schattenführung verleiht er Flächen die Illusion einer dritten Dimension und hält seine tief atmosphärischen Gebilde allein in Schwarz, Weiß und Grau, konzentriert auf das Wesentliche: Rhythmus, Raum, Licht und Schatten. Aus Pigmenten und Partikeln orchestriert er Kompositionen, die kompromisslos und charakterstark auftreten, fast brutalistisch, Objektwelten, die für sich existieren und wirken, als wären sie aus seiner Welt bei uns gelandet. 

Beim MURAL CITY – Beauty of Science widmet sich Sodas Arbeit dem Forschungsfeld der Materialwissenschaften. Materie wird zusammengefügt, geformt und wieder dekonstruiert. Aus kleinsten Teilen wird ein Ganzes, aus dem Rohen wird das Veredelte, und im Veredelten liegt schon das Rohe, in das es einmal zurückkehrt.
