The "Art meets Biodiversity" project was launched by the non-profit association InUrFaCE e.V. (Initiative of Urhan Facades Creature Exposition). The association, based in Cologne, brings together scientists involved in biodiversity research and street artists Using facade art to draw attention to the enormous importance of biodiversity for humanity

Biodiversity or biological diversity includes the diversity of all animal and plant species, the diversity of all habitats and the genetic diversity within species. It is man's basis of life because it ensures his nutrition, his health and his well-being. Unfortunately, despite the severe decline in biodiversity, including drastic species extinctions caused by human activities in recent decades, public awareness of the ongoing biodiversity crisis is still very low. The aim of the InUrFaCE e.V. association is to use art to increase the appreciation for biological diversity in society and to create the basis for a more conscious use of natural resources.
