Starry Starry Night

Located on the vintage clothes shop Starry Starry Night, 19 Dowanside Lane.

This is one of Glasgows oldest pieces of Artwork.

This mural was originally painted by Alasdair Gray (artist) and Robert Salmon (sign writer), who often worked together in the 1980’s

This mural in Dowanside Lane is much smaller than their other ones in the West End, and we learned that Robert repainted it by himself over the course of a couple of mornings after Alasdair's initial work became damaged.

Robert had some great insights into Alasdair's approach including the works constantly being in flux, and just when you thought something was finished, he'd ask for it to be repainted again!
