Artist / Artistic Group
This mural was created by the Turnpike Lane Art Group (TAG) in collaboration with James Straffon.
Title of the mural
The installation is known as "The Ritz", a tribute to the old Ritz cinema that was in that area.
Description of the mural
• The mural adorns the wall of a substation located at Carlingford Road, in the Haringey district, London N15.
• It exhibits a collection of classic movie characters, represented in graphic style on panels. These characters evoke the golden age of cinema and are associated with the cultural identity of the neighborhood.
• The work was the product of a long creative and administrative process: TAG needed almost a year to obtain the rights to use the characters, after negotiations with film studios in the United States.
Year of realization
The work was created in March 2020.
