Street Art Cities

In het kader van 'Van Eyck goes graffiti' creëerden Studio Giftig, Belin en Smug op Jan Van Eyck gebaseerde straatkunst in Maaseik. Van Eyck was een Vlaamse kunstschilder die tot de Vlaamse Primitieven gerekend wordt en die in de 14de eeuw in Maaseik geboren zou zijn. Zijn bekendste schilderij is 'De aanbidding van het Lam Gods'. 

Voor deze muurschildering haalde de gerenommeerde Spaanse straat artiest Belin - echte naam Miguel Angel Belinchon - zijn inspiratie bij 'De man met de rode tulband', het zelfportret van Van Eyck. Tegelijkertijd legt hij ook nog eens de link met de Spaanse schilder Pablo Picasso.

Studio Giftig, Belin and Smug created street art based on Jan Van Eyck in Maaseik as part of 'Van Eyck goes graffiti'. Van Eyck was a Flemish painter who is counted among the Flemish Primitives and who is said to be born in Maaseik in the 14th century. His most famous painting is 'The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb'.

For this mural, the renowed Spanish street artist Belin -  real name Miguel Angel Belinchon - was inspired by 'The man with the red turban', Van Eyck's self-portrait. At the same time, he also establishes a link with the Spanish painter Pablo Picasso.
