After spending hours in conversation with local residents, the artist listened to stories about the water's journey, the people who have always belonged to this place, and the many lives that have intersected to shape what it is today.
This mural speaks about belonging, the importance of creating a place that is truly our own, colored by our collective dreams and memories.
It brought me back to Recife, where river and sea blend into one another. It reminded me that longing is love planted along the road: when the seed is cared for, it remains alive, waiting for our return.
And like the sea that becomes a river, we all carry traces of where we come from.
