De Zwarte Zee (The Black Sea)

This 3D mural depicts the famous Dutch ship from 1933, De Zwarte Zee (The Black Sea). During the Second World War, this ship was part of the British Admiralty’s Rescue Tug Section. The Americans based the design of their V4-M-A1 tugs on this ship. 

Artist Rolf de Bakker immortalised the ship for the Maassluis Maritime Murals project. It was unveiled in a festive ceremony on 3 June 2022 by the local councillor.

Deze 3D muurschildering toont het beroemde Nederlandse schip uit 1933, De Zwarte Zee. In de Tweede Wereldoorlog was dit schip onderdeel van de Rescue Tug Section van de Britse Admiraliteit. De Amerikanen hebben het ontwerp van hun V4-M-A1-sleepboten op dit schip gebaseerd.

Kunstenaar Rolf de Bakker vereeuwigde het schip voor het project Maassluis Maritime Murals. Het werd op 3 juni 2022 feestelijk onthuld door de lokale wethouder.
