The Wood Street Parakeet

Description

Next to Dudley's cafe you'll find the Wood Street parakeet by Atma Studio.
Atma Studio is the stage name of the French artist Matt, who has been living and working in London for many years. ‘Atma’ is Sanskrit for ‘soul’.

He says of this artwork: “For this one, I wanted to play with something that felt both minimal and maximal, using the shape of the building and connecting it softly with the shopfront. I also loved thinking about how the mural would reveal itself as people walk through Wood Street."

A hallmark of Atma Studio’s style is the combination of abstract patterns and figurative elements: in this case, the ring-necked parakeet – a reference to London’s famous population of wild ring-necked parakeets.
