The two local painters behind this mural started it the night after the tragic shooting in 2019 at the El Paso Walmart that left 23 people dead and a city formerly comforted by its geographical isolation shaken to its very core. Depicting the night time city lights, the star on the mountain is the central feature. It is topped by a rose because according to one of the creators, "that's what you bring to a funeral."
