For Renace festival in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico in the "Ecos del Manglar" edition.
This mural is part of a project in progress called "Asphyxia", a reflection on water, light, pollution and the processes that rules it.
This piece talks about the lack of oxygen in the water due to Eutrophication.
The idea is to personify this drowning of the fauna of the nearby lagoons due to the invasion of lilies.
The vertical composition denotes the search for the surface, oxygen.
The electric cables reaching the neck amplify the feeling of suffocation
"The eutrophication of the ecosystem begins when the water receives an excessive discharge of nutrients (black water, agricultural waste, etc.) favouring an accelerated growth of algae and other green plants. This proliferation causes a clouding of the water that prevents light from penetrating to the bottom of the ecosystem. As a result, the vegetation cannot perform photosynthesis and dies, generating that other microorganisms, such as bacteria, feed on dead matter, consuming the oxygen that fish and molluscs needed, and at the same time generating toxic algae and pathogenic microorganisms. »
