Três Marias

This mural is a hommage to Maria Teresa Horta, Maria Isabel Barreno en Maria Velho da Costa.

In 1972, writers Maria Teresa Horta, Maria Isabel Barreno, and Maria Velho da Costa published the book "Novas Cartas Portuguesas" (New Portuguese Letters). Known as the "three Marias," they were accused by the dictatorship of writing a pornographic book that offended public morals and good customs, and were brought to trial in 1973.
