De bewoners van de Academiesite beslisten dat er op de kale muur in het midden van de wijk, een gedicht moest komen. Er was keuze uit maar liefst 25 gedichten, na een stemming bleek de songtekst van het lied van Gorki uiteindelijk het meest geliefd.
De zus van de betreurde zanger Luc De Vos woont in deze wijk en onthulde zelf het werk. De artistieke uitwerking werd gedaan door de bekendste letterschilder van Gent en omstreken.

The residents of the Academiesite decided that a poem should appear on the bare wall in the middle of the neighborhood. There was a choice of no fewer than 25 poems; after a vote, the lyrics of the Gorki song ultimately proved to be the most popular.

The sister of the late singer Luc De Vos lives in this neighborhood and unveiled the work herself. The artistic execution was carried out by the most famous sign painter in Ghent and the surrounding area.
