The mural "Life and Dream in the Perla Valley" is a reproduction of a mural from the small village of Taniperla in Chiapas/Mexico.The residents created this in a small project together with some activists from Mexico City.However, this image was destroyed by the military the day after it was taken and several activists were imprisoned for a year and a half.Among those imprisoned for so long was the design professor Checo Valdez Rubalcaba from Mexico City.It was through the press that this created that the military's actions really became public.In solidarity with the Zapatista fight for freedom and against the brutal despotism of the Mexican state, this mural was reproduced in many places around the world, including here in Cologne.This so-called 'Taniperla image' is the narrow horizontal strip of images at medium height, which was unfortunately partially obscured in the photo by a poster.As a sign that the dream of peace and resistance cannot be destroyed by military action, the Taniperla mural has already been restored in various countries around the world. The mural was created in 2001. 
 

Das Wandbild "Leben und Traum im Perla-Tal" ist die Reproduktion eines Wandbildes aus dem kleinen Dorf Taniperla in Chiapas/Mexiko. Die Bewohner hatten dies in einem kleinen Projekt zusammen mit einigen Aktivisten aus Mexiko-City erstellt. Dieses Bild wurde jedoch vom Militär einen Tag nach seiner Erstellung zerstört und etliche Aktivisten wurden für eineinhalb Jahre inhaftiert. Unter den so lange Inhaftierten war unter anderem auch der Design-Professor Checo Valdez Rubalcaba aus Mexiko-City. Durch die Presse, die dadurch entstand, wurde die Aktion des Militärs erst richtig publik. Aus Solidarität mit dem zapatistischen Kampf für Freiheit und gegen die brutale Willkür des mexikanischen Staates wurde dieses Wandbild an vielen Stellen der Welt reproduziert, so auch hier in Köln. Dieses sogenannte 'Taniperla-Bild' ist der schmale waagrechte Bildstreifen in mittlerer Höhe, was auf dem Foto leider durch ein Plakat zum Teil verdeckt wurde. Als Zeichen, dass sich der Traum vom Frieden und der Widerstand nicht durch militärische Aktionen zerstören lassen, wurde das Wandbild von Taniperla bereits in verschiedenen Ländern der Erde wiederhergestellt. Das Wandbild wurde 2001 erstellt.
