"The Eraser" Mural
Description
The long mural in Codrington Mews, from the corner of Blenheim Crescent, depicting King Canute trying to hold back the sea is based on the cover of "The Eraser", the 2006 solo album by Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke. Both the album cover and the mural in the mews are the work of Stanley Donwood, Radiohead’s long-standing designer.
The mural was painted in two stages. The oldest section, furthest from Blenheim Crescent, has been there since the album was released in 2006. The additional section extending to the main road was added in 2024.
The mews lead to the offices and studios of XL Recordings.
