The Blooming of Ninth Square

Description

Date: 2020

Del Carpio grew up in New Haven, his family moved to the US from Peru when he was 12, so this project is personal to him. The mural can be read from left to right (looking towards the future that is being drawn) or from left to right (a snapshot of the past that grows in a vibrant city scene). During the six weeks it took to bring this mural to life, Del Carpio believes about 70 community members assisted in the painting, as neighbors passed by he invited them to paint with him. Truly a community project.

I love art and I love to travel. When I go to a new place my dog, Sparky, we go for lots of walks, exploring whatever city we are in. I love to take that time to hunt for street art. It's makes it fun for both of us (unless he's actually thinking I'm really annoying for stopping so much!!)
