This mural is part of a diptych the artist created for the Dutch National Museum of Photography as part of the project Museum Murals. The other painting is located on the other end of the same building. For this project the painter researched the collection of the museum. She chose two works from women photographers from the Gallery of Honour of Dutch Photography.
This is a photo of three Tuareg women, taken in the Sahara dessert in Mali by photographer Violette Cornelius in 1959. With this mural, the artist investigates in what way the photographer influences the identity of the portrayed.
In the corner of the mural the Arabic text translates to: "Don't portray me. Don't speak of me. Don't write about me."
