The mural “Healing” by German artist Carolin Kaiser is located in Mannheim, directly across from the Central Institute for Mental Health (ZI). The approximately 150-square-meter mural depicts an abstract landscape transitioning from sunset to night and features strong color contrasts.
In terms of content, the work symbolizes peace, balance, and hope. It is intended, in particular, to offer comfort and confidence to people in the vicinity of the ZI. The artist drew inspiration from the calming effect of a sunset by the sea.
Carolin Kaiser, originally from the Palatinate, lives in Mannheim and studied communication design as well as completing an apprenticeship as a painter and varnisher. She works primarily in an analog style using collages. “Healing” also began as a collage and was subsequently transferred to the façade using classical painting techniques over the course of seven days.
