Marble Garden

Mural made for @lemurdijon, Dijon, France. The mural is part of a long time research I have been doing, about finding the humanity through the cracks of the concrete. To find different people with their own stories and dreams to hopefully show that the world we live is not unidimensional, but a collective of different views and perspectives that shape the place we all share.

To be able to paint the life stories of the people I encountered through out my journey as an artist has been a very humbling experience, this one is no exception. This mural talks about a woman who tries day by day finding equilibrium of who she is. Being a mother often means losing their identity as a woman, based on past generations of our mothers and grandmothers. They were taught to be that way so they could manage the tasks (often forcefully) at home. I saw through @joanaa_portela someone who tries to break free of those traditions. She represents a new generation of women who is able to be a mother but not losing her identity as a woman.
