This mural, titled "Voyage to Soulsville" or the Varsity Theater Mural, was created by Carlos Lowry in 1980. It depicts historical figures and scenes from the cinema, located on the corner of 24th and Guadalupe Streets in Austin, Texas. The mural showcases black-and-white film strip motifs featuring various actors and musical greats. It is considered one of the oldest remaining murals in Austin, surviving past its originally intended duration for a festival. One of the frames was recently replaced with a scene from "Slackers."
