North West Walls 2024 - Turba

Description

Created for North West Walls 2024, check the full history here

North West Walls is a stacked shipping containers installations at Rock Werchter, transformed each year into a new open‑air street‑art gallery. Since 2014, it has served as a permanent structure with ever‑changing artwork, proving that large‑scale visual art can thrive at a music festival.

Curated annually by Belgian artist Arne Quinze, the project invites six international street artists to repaint the containers, giving them a vast outdoor canvas exposed to weather, music, and thousands of visitors. The installation acts as a landmark between festivals, then is reborn each summer with new stories and styles. Over a decade, it has showcased artists from around the world, each leaving a mark on the project’s evolving identity. As it celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2025, North West Walls continues its mission: bringing art into unexpected spaces and sparking emotion in everyone who encounters it.

Hunter

Tony Gielen
Just after the first peak of corona, I bought a motorcycle and started photography again after years, and discovered the passion to capture the world around me through the lens of my camera. I hope to discover many beautiful, new places and especially to be able to share the images here on StreetArtCities and on flickr with you before they disappear into the mists of time again. Graffiti is a very volatile art form that often only survives in photographs like we Hunters capture everywhere.
