This pictorial mural, named “Balcons de Barcelona”, is located on the dividing wall of a building located between Plaza Pablo Neruda and Calle Enamorats, in the Eixample district, very close to the Sagrada Familia.
Inaugurated by Mayor Pasqual Maragall on 29 February 1992, as part of the “Barcelona, posa’t guapa” campaign, this work was commissioned from the French group Cité de la Création, a cooperative of artists from Lyon.
This realistic mural, measuring around 450 m², simulates the façade of a building with balconies where various figures can be seen. In total, 26 illustrious celebrities related in some way to the city of Barcelona are represented: Terrace: Joaquín Blume and Cristóbal Colón Fifth floor: Santiago Rusiñol Fourth floor: Àngel Guimerà and Margarida à, Francesc Rius i Taulet, Francesc Macià, Lluís Companys and Josep Tarradellas First Floor: Mosén Cinto Verdaguer, Joan Miró, Carmen Amaya, Pablo Ruiz Picasso, Anselm Clavé, Pau Casals and Antonio Machín Ground Floor: Raquel Meller and Mercè Rodoreda.
