This mural by Reaphe in Tourcoing is a captivating fusion of abstraction and nature, painted on the side of a prominent building at the corner of Rue du Commandant-Driant and Rue de Guisnes. Rising several stories high, the artwork bursts with expressive brushstrokes, angular forms, and a palette of greens, yellows, and browns that evoke a dreamlike landscape caught between the organic and the urban. Thin black lines and dynamic splashes of paint bring rhythm and energy, while soft clouds and translucent layers give the piece a meditative quality. Above, the artist’s name “REAPHE” is subtly inscribed, crowning the mural with quiet pride.
In 2023, Reaphe, originally from Tourcoing, won the Talents Hip-Hop competition organized by Leclerc cultural centers. Shortly after, a building owner looking to decorate the rear wall of his property, adjacent to the community space L’Atelier, offered him the opportunity. “It took me a year to bring this project to life,” Reaphe explained. “It’s a work centered on abstraction and nature. And I was given complete creative freedom, especially from the Tourcoing city hall.”
