Hij heeft iets met robots, maar er zit ook hart in het werk van de Italiaanse straatkunstenaar Pixelpancho. Heel veel zelfs. Zijn muurschilderingen zien eruit als artefacten uit een utopische toekomst. Van een wereld die, ondanks de aanzienlijke aanwezigheid van machines, misschien wel menselijker is dan de wereld die we vandaag kennen. En in die wereld is het volkomen normaal dat ook machines fan zijn van het werk van James Ensor. Daarom heeft Pixelpancho, zelf fan van Salvador Dalí en de Japanse popartiest Takashi Murakami, een badge van de Oostendse meester op de afgebeelde robot gespeld.

He has a thing for robots, but there is also heart in the work of Italian street artist Pixelpancho. Quite a lot, as a matter of fact. His murals look like artefacts of a utopian future. Of a world that, despite the significant presence of machines, might be more human than the one we know today. And in that world, it is perfectly normal that machines too are fans of James Ensor’s work. That’s why Pixelpancho, who himself is a fan of Salvador Dalí and Japanese pop artist Takashi Murakami, pinned a badge of the Ostend master on the robot pictured.
