===========

This mural tells the historical story of Den Dolder. The pigeon and the soap bubbles refer to the former De Duif soap factory. The bubbles also depict the other key elements of the village: the heathlands, Christoph Pleines, the founder of the soap factory, the railway station, and the former Willem Arntsz Hoeve psychiatric care complex.

The mural was created with the support of the Municipality of Zeist and, among others, the Den Dolder Historical Society and the Den Dolder Neighbourhood Coordination Team

My passion for murals began in 2019. I read a newspaper article about Jan is de Man, who had created a mural in Utrecht. It depicted a bookcase (on Mimosastraat). Local residents had been asked what their favorite book was and whether he could include it on the bookshelf. After my retirement, I started organizing cycling tours past twenty beautiful, large murals in Utrecht, and more recently also in Nieuwegein. It’s great fun to do!
