Bashkir mermaid

This mural is based on a famous Bashkir legend. Zaya-Tulyak is a young man who wanted to break free from the bounds of his father, Bashkir khan Samar-khan. One day he left his home and met a mermaid, a daughter of a sea padishah. They fell in love, but the army of Samar-khan found Zaya-Tulyak. He had to become a next khan after the death of his father. Mermaid had been waiting for him for 40 days but tragically died, the army trampled her to death. Zaya-Tulyak buried her and then killed himself out of grief.
