CONTEMPORARY LANDSCAPE

Description

Here´s an article from the local news coze.fr:

This June, the “Artwork of the Month” takes you to discover a piece created last April in the heart of the Alfred Weiss University Residence in the Neudorf district of Strasbourg. Entitled Contemporary Landscape, the work was produced as part of the Street Art Initiative: the Strasbourg Crous, in partnership with the City and the Eurometropolis of Strasbourg, Colors Urban Art, NL Contest – Urban Sport & Art Festival, and RBS, organized an immersive and participatory program centered around street art, featuring meetings, workshops, and the creation of several artworks.

The artist Gris1 was invited to work at the heart of the University Residence for one week. His creation spans an entire façade of the residence. For this mural, the artist sought to integrate the artwork into its surroundings—between green space and sky. The idea was to blend the mural, and therefore the building itself, into this rather natural setting so that it would harmoniously merge with it. To achieve this, Gris1 used the colors of the environment, ranging from greens to shades of blue. We also recognize the artist’s signature style: a band-like composition combining abstract and figurative elements, a vibrant patchwork that brings the piece to life and allows it to integrate perfectly into its environment.
