Description

This dragonfly log sculpture is a site-specific public sculpture created by renowned British chainsaw artist and sculptor Tom Harvey. Carved directly into the prone trunk of a massive, fallen tree, the sprawling installation seamlessly merges raw timber with intricate woodland motifs—featuring a highly detailed, large-scale dragonfly with delicate, segmented wings that appear to emerge organically from the weathered bark.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Tom Harvey is one of the United Kingdom's most prominent contemporary chainsaw carvers and environmental sculptors. He is widely celebrated for his site-specific public installations across London's Royal Parks—including Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens—where he explores the relationship between art and nature by transforming diseased or fallen timber into vibrant, permanent tributes to local wildlife.
