This mural commemorates Marie and Jan Sonnevend, who lived in a neighboring house and played a key role in helping hide the parachutists involved in Operation Anthropoid - the resistance operation that targeted Reinhard Heydrich, one of the most powerful Nazi leaders during World War II. As part of the Czech resistance, they helped secure shelter for the operatives, including in the crypt of the Saints Cyril and Methodius Cathedral in Prague.
For their courage and involvement, both were arrested and executed by the Nazis in 1942, paying the highest price for their actions.
