The small artwork depicts a hand lifting a carpet-like object. Beneath it, several insects in different colours and a worm are revealed. The raised “carpet” creates the impression of exposing a normally hidden part of the miniature world beneath our feet.

The work was created by the anonymous artist M.F, whose artworks can be found throughout the city of Laon. It is one of three small artworks mounted on a wooden gate in the historic old town.
