Né dans la commune liégeoise d'Angleur, Arthur Haulot était un résistant, poète, conteur, auteur de nouvelles et d'essais, ainsi qu'un humaniste qui s'intéressait aux relations humaines entre tous les peuples.

La ville de Liège a souhaité rendre hommage à Arthur Haulot dans sa région natale. Ce geste commémoratif a pris une forme originale : la création de trois fresques murales graphiques et poétiques, douces et vivantes, combinant des éléments figuratifs et abstraits, qui stimulent l'imagination du spectateur.

Le fil conducteur des trois œuvres est la main, forte et rassurante, comme un geste d'ouverture, qui évoque clairement l'héritage d'Arthur Haulot. Pour chaque mur, une phrase de son poème « La main coupée » a été choisie, une phrase qui symbolise le renouveau et la reconstruction. Au cours de ce voyage, Arthur Haulot dira en quelque sorte à chaque passant : « Mon cœur a été rafraîchi par le contact de ta main. »

Cette peinture murale s'intitule « Le monde s'étend autour de la main. ».

Située au cœur d'Angleur, en face du Château Nagelmackers, cette fresque symbolise la force de la renaissance. La main tendue reflète les missions du cabinet de radiologie dans lequel elle est située et du centre médical situé en face : promouvoir la convivialité et l'engagement social, dans le respect de l'altérité et des différences, autant de valeurs qui font écho à l'activisme social d'Arthur Haulot.

Arthur Haulot, who was born in the Liège borough of Angleur, was a resistance fighter, poet, storyteller, short story writer, essayist and humanist who was concerned with human relations between all peoples.

The city of Liège wanted to honour Arthur Haulot in his native region. This commemorative gesture took an original form: the creation of three graphic and poetic murals that are soft and lively, combining figurative and abstract elements that stimulate the viewer's imagination.

The common thread running through the three works is the hand, strong and reassuring, like a gesture of openness, clearly evoking Arthur Haulot's legacy. For each wall, a sentence from his poem ‘The Severed Hand’ was chosen, a sentence that symbolises renewal and reconstruction. During this journey, Arthur Haulot will, as it were, say to every passer-by: ‘My heart was refreshed by the touch of your hand.’

This mural is entitled ‘The world extends around the hand.’

This mural, located in the heart of Angleur, opposite Château Nagelmackers, symbolises the power of rebirth. The outstretched hand reflects the missions of the radiology practice in which it is located and the medical centre opposite: promoting conviviality and social engagement, with respect for otherness and differences – all values that resonate with Arthur Haulot's social activism.
