To Be Safely Trans Outside

The mural ‘To Be Safely Trans Outside’ was created by the artist blkmoodyboi. The work forms part of the art project Beyond Boundaries, a collaboration between Tate Modern and the local organisation Better Bankside, and conveys a message about the visibility and safety of trans people in public spaces. blkmoodyboi is a non-binary, trans Afro-Indigenous Caribbean Latinx illustrator and community worker based in London. Their brightly coloured and vibrant artistic style is a deliberate form of political protest and activism. The illustrations specifically celebrate the joy, abundance, beauty and resilience of Black and Brown trans people and the wider QTIBIPOC community (Queer, Trans, Intersex, Black, Indigenous and People of Colour).
