Description

This multi-story tribute mural honors Bermuda's historic triathlete and Olympic champion, Dame Flora Duffy. Unveiling Ceremony: April 7, 2022 ABOUT THE ARTISTS: Unfolding Flora Duffy was jointly designed and painted by Bermudian artists Kendra L. Earls and Shanna Hollis, selected through a national competition hosted by the Department of Culture. Kendra L. Earls is an established Bermudian muralist, stage designer, and longtime arts educator known for public mosaic installations and community-centered art projects. Shanna Hollis is a Bermudian graphic designer, multidisciplinary artist, and creative director celebrated for bold, vibrant visual identities and public artworks celebrating island heritage and community identity. ABOUT THE PIECE: Rendered in a bold, geometric constructivist and pop-art style with faceted color blocking in ocean blues, terracotta, tan, and cream, the mural incorporates large-scale typography spelling out "FLORA DUFFY" vertically down the building facade. Embedded within the letterforms and geometric grid are white silhouettes depicting the three triathlon disciplines: swimming at the top, cycling through the middle section, and crossing the finish line with arms raised in victory at the base, crowned by an Olympic gold medal disc.

I love the hunt for street art as much as the discovery itself. Whether I'm exploring new neighborhoods or revisiting old favorites, I’m here to share the amazing art I find, especially the gems scattered across London.
