Venezuelan artist, Cristhian Saravia (AKA Golden305), is an illustrator and muralist based in Miami, Florida. Throughout his career, Golden has made a name for himself in the local, national, and international street art scene. He has been a production manager for Wynwood Walls, Bushwick Collective, and Beyond Walls street art festivals, and has been a featured artist at Art Basel every year since 2012. Known for his vivid colors and unique painting style, Golden has been embellishing streets from Seoul to Las Vegas with his whimsical and charming monsters. According to Golden, he strives to translate powerful emotions, such as love, gratitude, happiness, and hope through the bright colors and fun-loving attitudes of his monsters. For Golden, monsters are not bad, rather they are his “fun little guys” that he believes everyone can relate to in a special way, whether it’s a unicorn reminding us of our individuality, or a grim reaper reminding us to live life to the fullest.
This playful piece reads EL ARCOIRIS as a tribute to an after school program created by Nueva Esperanza more than 20 years ago in the city of Holyoke, which used Art and large public Murals as part of their program to engage the youth. This mural is a tribute to those pioneers.
Holyoke’s Mayor Joshua Garcia was one of the students who painted ARCOIRIS murals decades ago.
