The 20 years of existence of the Antonia Guerrero Foundation have made it an indispensable part of the lives of many students from Estepona to achieve their higher studies. On the occasion of this celebration, the organization has paid for a new mural on the route created through the urban area of the city and which, starting this week, has been displayed on the façade of the Caravaca building, on the corner between Valencia and Zaragoza streets.

The work, entitled 'Sueños de Libertad', is a creation by local artist Francisco Alarcón, where, as the painter himself explained, he tried to capture Antonia Guerrero's philosophy in her fight for women's equality, as well as the generosity that led to her inheritance bequeathed to those women without resources who wished to study could do so.

The artist explained at the inauguration of the painting that it represented two figures "who are in total communication", on the one hand a woman, who embodies Antonia Guerrero in her youth and who looks inside with the dream of power study and feel fulfilled, and on the other hand a goldfinch appears that symbolizes her desire for freedom.

Likewise, Alarcón explained that in the eight-meter-high mural and romantic style, he used a wide palette of colors of great vividness to convey the desire to excel and the vitality of this fighter.

Los 20 años de existencia de la Fundación Antonia Guerrero han hecho que sea una parte indispensable en la vida de muchos estudiantes esteponeros para lograr cursar sus estudios superiores. Con motivo de esta celebración, la organización ha costeado un nuevo mural en la ruta creada por el casco urbano de la ciudad y que desde esta semana ya luce en la fachada del edificio Caravaca, en una la esquina entre las calles Valencia y Zaragoza.

La obra, titulada 'Sueños de Libertad', es una creación del artista local Francisco Alarcón, en donde según explicó el propio pintor, intentó plasma la filosofía de Antonia Guerrero en su lucha por la igualdad de la mujer, así como la generosidad que la llevó a legar su herencia a aquellas mujeres sin recursos que desearan estudiar lo pudieran hacer.

El artista detalló en la inauguración de la pintura que ésta representaba a dos figuras «que se encuentran en total comunicación», por un lado una mujer, que encarna a Antonia Guerrero en su juventud y la cual mira en su interior con el sueño de poder estudiar y sentirse realizada, y por otro lado aparece un jilguero que simboliza sus deseos de libertad.

Asimismo, Alarcón detalló que en el mural de ocho metros de altura y estilo romántico, utilizó una amplia paleta de colores de gran viveza para trasladar el afán de superación y la vitalidad de esta luchadora.
