A mural project to memorialize the cultural heritage and history of New Haven. In collaboration with the non-profit, Site Projects New Haven, this mural commemorates William Lanson, a Black entrepreneur and leader in the Black community of New Haven in the 19th century. Lanson was a party to two construction projects to helped to build the success of the city of New Haven. There are no known pictures of William Lanson, so the mural depicts birds carrying people over New Haven and the branches and vines signify the obstacles that Lanson had to conquer.
